September 19 September 19-21, 2003 In March, Governor Bill Owens signed HB1093.This legislation dissolved the State Colleges in Colorado system and established separate governing boards for Western, Mesa State College of Grand Junction and Adams State College of Alamosa. Beginning July 1, 2003, Western will have its own board of trustees made up of nine individuals appointed by the Governor, a student representative and a faculty member. On Main Street 10:00a.m. Mountaineer Homecoming tailgate party– Join the entire Western Community for a Gunnison-style BBQ and then cheer the Mountaineers on to victory! 12:00 noon Rugby game - A Homecoming Tradition.
