VisitGunnison.com was conceived and created by a group of local designers and programmers, known as the Thin Air Web. We have allied with local photographers, writers, and community organizations to bring you the only Web site that faithfully represents the entire Gunnison community in an on-line format.
We invite everyone in the community to become involved, and get a web page on our site. You can sign up, create and maintain your page online, right on the site itself. Guests are welcome to sign our guest book and join the mailing list for community events and other news.
This site conveys the spirit, personality, and vitality of our community, because it’s built, updated, and maintained with community participation. It allows visitors to discover our town and its people, businesses, activities, and culture before arriving here. It also provides local residents up to date information on happenings in the community.
VisitGunnison.com contains complete databases of community events, activities, businesses, lodgings, travel, and real estate.
Many services on the site, such as a basic web page and Community Calendar listings, are provided to local residents and businesses for free. Enhanced services are provided for a monthly fee.
The site contains the following elements:
Free Pages
Any Gunnison resident, second homeowner, or business can sign up for a personal or business account on the site at no cost. Any registered user can add items to the Community Calendar and maintain their Personal or Business Web Page on the site, all by simply using their Web browser.
Signup is a simple process of filling out a Web form with information about the user or business, and submitting it. The applicant must, first and foremost, have a local mailing address and a valid email address.
Community Calendar
The site's Community Calendar contains information about all the happenings in the Gunnison community. Its most useful feature is that any registered user can add items to the calendar. Entertainment venues can post their schedules, merchants can announce sales or special events, individuals can announce their birthdays and other special occasions, and so on.
Activity Guide
The Activity Guide is a four-season database of activities to do in Gunnison. The information about any activity can range from a simple one-sentence description to an elaborate and comprehensive listing. For example, information about local mountain biking includes information about many popular rides. Each activity comes with links to local businesses that cater to that activity. These links lead to the business’s own web page.
Community Business Guide
The Business Guide contains listings for all local businesses, which can be searched by type of business, business name, location, and so on. Listings for each business can be maintained and updated by the business owners themselves using Web forms.
A Basic Business Web Page on the site is free to any local business. Basic Business pages are comprised of a simple web page that contains name, address, email, and phone number information for the business, as well as 1024 characters of descriptive text provided by the business, and an email feedback form.
Administrative features include a hit counter, and the ability to edit and update the contents of your page easily using Web forms.
Storefront and Enhanced Business Listings
For a monthly fee, any business may upgrade their page on VisitGunnison.com to an Enhanced Business Web Page. A storefront business web page adds a logo and a photo to your web listing. An Enhanced page includes a logo and up to 4 photographs or illustrations. Both types of pages allow you to have additional activity and other link links throughout the site.

Accommodations Guide
VisitGunnison.com’s Accommodations Guide contains listings of local hotels, lodges, condominiums, bed & breakfasts, and rental homes. These listings are provided for a small monthly fee to the property manager or homeowner. Each listing includes price information, a list of amenities (such as swimming pool, hot tub, etc.) location information, a photograph, hit count statistics, and a link to the property manager or homeowner’s Business or Personal listing. The property manager or homeowner can update any of this information in a self-service manner using Web forms.

Dining Guide
The Dining Guide contains listings of restuarants in the Crested Butte Area. While a basic text-only listing in the Guide is free, Any restaurant may also elect to pay aa monthly fee for a Storefront or Enhanced Business Web page including logo, photos, etc. For an additional monthly charge, the restaurant’s entire menu can be added to the dining guide.

Real Estate Guide
The Real Estate Guide contains listings of properties for sale in a central, searchable database for a monthly fee. A listing in the Real Estate Guide includes two or four photos of the property, a list of details, such as number of bedrooms and location, descriptive text, hit count statistics, and a to the seller's web page on the Community Site. The seller can update any of this information in a self-service manner using Web forms.
